Last Light
We have been having some exceptional weather and light on the central coast the past few weekends so i decided i would revisit an old stompin ground that i havent shot in over a year. i took the 40min drive out to Montana de Oro and made it through a hail storm and some intense lightning to what was looking to be one of the most promising sunsets i had ever seen. the sky was full of intense rain columns and clouds with some great structure, but the topper to all this was that there was no Marine Layer on the horizon. This combined with a nice little gap in the clouds meant i was in for a treat.

i found a nice simple comp and observed the wave patters for safety and found that the largest set of waves i had seen only came up to my knees, not bad (i thought). so right as the sun peaked through i was shooting away and the light was building. the glow on the surrounding rocks was intense due to all the moisture in the air. and then i got slammed, hard! by a huge set of waves. one came up to my waist and then another came and slammed me full frontal in the face and soaked me and my gear to the core. i was safe but decided to call it quits (this right as the light was at its peak)

i walked away with a nice image, so all was not lost, but my A7r is acting a bit wonky now. ill give it a few days to dry out but i sense that the front dial is going to have to be replaced. it is changing apertures at random =)
Hey Everyone!

Tomorrow night, September 26th, I leave on a red eye flight out of LAX on a direct flight to Papeete, Tahiti.  This is going to be an amazing vacation and I am packed light on camera gear, but I am still planning on making some amazing images! My Wife and I both are now SCUBA certified and I am bringing my Nikonos V film camera as well as a nice water housing for an old Galaxt S 3 that will be a great compliment to the Nikonos.  Between those two cameras and my Fuji X-T1, 2 primes and a walk around zoom, I plan on really taking in all that French Polynesia has to offer and to keep everyone back at home updated with awesome images.  The Fuji X-T1 has a great WiFi transfer feature that is going to let me get all those images off the camera and onto my phone and eventually up onto Instagram!

I've been using Instagram to share finished works and also a bunch of behind the scenes photos from when the finished works were created.

So if you are interested in seeing some cool shots from the 'road' then follow me on Instagram!

my user name is tsbphoto on Instagram!

eventually when i get back the images will make their way here as well!

Thanks Everyone!

and if you have any experience with Tahiti or any of the French Polynesian Islands please let me know any details!
